Jennie’s background:
Jennie Moonstrike story.
Long ago Jennie was to be a Priestess in the underworld for the spider Queen. But not all things happen has they should. During the ritual to dedicate her to Loth, the fire went out and the child disappeared. She claimed a large Bear carried her away, and spoke to her telling her she had a different path. Still they tried to force her to become the assassin they wanted to build, when they again found her. Silly girl there are no bears deep in the underground. Never the less even as she spent almost 90 years learning from her mentor the development always seemed to evolve strangely. Spells were whispered to her from the ground. When the Spider queen disappeared once again the drow thought nothing of it. The queen had done so many times before and always returned. Each time the favored tribe of drow would fall to their rivals in the hopes that when she returned she would then pick a new tribe to favor. So after a time had passed her tribe decided to move. Jennie’s tribe attacked the once senior tribe along with a couple of minor tribes to gain position. However several larger tribes feared them and banded together and brought them down. Jennie then lead a group thru the underground attempting to escape and return later. When separated from even these she was forced above ground and has lived 40 years among humans as their “moon elf” cleric. Although they thought of her as a druid or shaman. Everyone knows there are no deities so can not be a cleric. Her years treating those below and above ground has helped her understand what plants and animals caused harm as her patients described what had happened to them and their companions that did not make it back. Using potions some by trial and error, she has a list of those that worked and some that can be used for other purposes against those that go against her. Drow know little of kindness so if she heals you it will be for her benefit, so because the bear whispers to her to do so.
With little hope of returning to her kin, and tired of posing as the town's moon-elf druid. She hopes to join the caravan and create yet again her new life. somewhere maybe she can be herself, if that phantom bear spirit would just let her. But then who would she be?

Jennie Moonbreaker Drow/cleric Empty Dark (Night) Elf

Post  steven_h_d Thu Oct 21, 2010 12:45 pm

"You know, I have to keep moving at night. Or I'll disappear!" (In WC3, Shadowmeld was a passive ability and when the night elf would stop moving at night, the ability would be activated.)
"Actually, I'm more of a... Morning Elf."
"You know, Wisps are actually pretty useful for personal hygiene."
"I think guys just use the Emerald Dream as an excuse to avoid calling me back."
(Sarcastically) "Oh, look, I'm dancing again!
(Darkly) I hope all your friends are enjoying the show..."

Jennie Moonbreaker Drow/cleric Empty Jennie story

Post  steven_h_d Thu Feb 17, 2011 2:55 pm

She wakes up after the dream. It is the same dream she always has, well almost always. A young girl running in the caverans far below the surface. She is not lost, far from it. Although there are those that seek to find her. Amusing as the old riddle goes you aren't lost unless someone is looking for you. They are looking aright, but to be found would be to die. No she knows these paths, more that those that follow. Her house use to hunt here for slaves. Her house, now lays in shambles. To continue this path leads up to the mind flayers, it is there she leads her pursuers. Hope they have a helmet of protection from mind thoughts. She does and wears it now, never know but one of them could be down this far. She dodges pillars and continues to climb. After this is the dwarven mines, a few gnome cites, that the templars don't know they missed in the purge. for that matter, they don't know much on the mind flayers or her people either. We are not even mention in their doctrine, and that is a good thing her mentors told her. Those that whipped her when her "magic" didnt turn the way that they wanted. They wanted a deadly killer with primortal power. They got one, but she is more cleric than primortal priest. Ubatoe was in a strange mood it seems, he that took over when the spider queen left that last time ages ago. well her mentors are dead, killed by their own poisons.
Now she is on the surface and it is just as deadly as the caverans below. She travels far to reach a small village, where she finds a small child, hurt from a fall with his mother. To tired to even know why she does it, she reachs out and heals him, passing out in the effort. Awake (in her dream) sh e finds they have taken her in, fed her and given her a cloak. Good, because after the climb and travel her dress was in tatters. Then it begins, others in the village and beyond come for healing, and she is now their doctor. Both she and her sponsers get trade good for the service.
She awakes from the dream, or does she? that was so long ago, why does her dreams always go back there? It began there of course her journey in becoming the humans, moon-elf witch-doctor-primal-healer. They were never sure what to call her, and she wisely never said. Would they have come and paid her had they know? Likely not.
The village couldn't keep it secret for long, after she healed some of the caravan crew. The protecting human house that ran the village found out and had her brought to the city. Well asked anyway the first group, didnt so they died. The second commander was more polite, so he lived.
Even here they think she is a moon-elf as no one could quite place her, and they had seen forest, sea and jungle elfs. So she must be the more rare moon type, right? Right.
You see, even this far from her homeland, news could travel and the hunt would be on. they would never rest down there knowning a member of her house had survived.
